New Post: Trouble using Copy-TkeDatastoreFile

I have loaded the viToolkitExtensions module and have the prompt to input a source but do not know the syntax. Can you provide some info on the syntax for source and destination?

I have tried "/vmfs/volumes/4933e7d6-f1d66806-3f99-001a645cab94/Syslog", "Datastore/Syslog" ,"Datastore/Syslog/Syslog.log"

In addition, it would be great to understand the syntax for the destination. Thanks again.

in my env. running it against the Vitual center makes it return all vmdk's on all vm's and perhaps also a ophaned one.

P.S. 600+ vms makes that manual check, not doable

It really ought to be named vitoolkitextensions. That way "import-module vitoolkitextensions" would "just work". I'm trying to find some docs on this stuff but that stuff is still sketchy for CTP3.

P.S., I'm up on CTP3 finally, so once I figure out the patch submission process I'll do some of that.

Running directly on one host is one possibility, in my environment I have two hosts with shared storage, if I run it against either, it returns the other hosts's disks as orphaned. It may also just be something different in your environment versus mine, what version of ESX are you running?

Hi, sorry for the slow response here. We haven't made specific plans to add support for Server/Workstation, but that's simply because no one has asked for it yet (except you).

If we were to add it to the product officially it would probably not arrive until 2010 or later, based on the things we have in the pipeline currently. If you're still interested in making progress via a codeplex project (maybe this one or maybe another), we'll support that and help out. Still interested in doing this?

Is your target a standalone host, a host in a cluster, or a Virtual Center? If you are targeting one host in a cluster I am wondering if you are seeing the vmdk's of VMs registered on other hosts.

I just want to carry over my comments to this discussion thread regarding Vix Integration with PowerShell. VI Toolkit supports only Virtual Infrastructure and ESX, but I am curious whether VMWare Server and Workstation are planned to be supported in the future. At our office, we have QA labs set up and it is ugly to maintain via GUI. I have a thought to wrap the COM API via C# Interop and expose it in Powershell.

get-tkeorphanedvmfk is returning all disks, rather than those that are orphaned.

any ideas?
